For those who aren’t “crafty,” I will also include links to lists of non-craft items, which many of these organizations always need. Money and volunteer time are also very welcome.
This list is by no means complete, so if you know of an organization in Utah that needs handmade donations, please e-mail email@example.com with the subject “Week of Service.” I need the organization name, website, donations needed, drop-off hours and locations, and any special notes. Salt Lake County
Fleece blankets: 72" x 60" (2 yards)
Quilts: 72" x 90", 54" x 80", and 45" x 60" (no all-red flannel). Quilted or tied quilts are both okay.
Medical play dolls – dolls used for patient education and comfort: Dolls made of muslin and stuffed with batting. Doll gowns are also needed; Call (801) 662-5968 for patterns, or download here: medical playdoll pattern – a.pdf, medical playdoll pattern – b.pdf, playdoll gown pattern – side 1.pdf, playdoll gown pattern – side 2.pdf. (Download all four documents.) You will need to cut and paste medical playdoll patterns (a) and (b) together. To ensure patterns print at the correct size, please set your printer settings to "None" under "Page Scaling."
Pajama bottoms (ages 8-20)
Any baby clothes (newborn to 18 months)
Receiving blankets (36" x 36" or larger)
Underwear (especially for boys ages 3-12, but also for all boys and girls sizes 2 years to young adult)
LDS Hospital. They are always in need of baby hats made from soft yarn. Pink and blue only, please. Please include your name and address. Bring them to the information desk or ask for volunteer services.
Pioneer Valley Hospital. They will take baby hats and baby blankets, made from soft baby yarn. No color preference. They must be freshly washed and packaged in individual clear plastic bags. Take donations to information desk or gift shop.
Huntsman Cancer Institute. They are in need of adult chemo caps/hats: must be made from very soft yarn (not scratchy), neutral colors for both genders. Also, cotton and silk scarves are needed: soft fabric, made in the shape of a rectangle, about 4 or 5 inches longer on one side than a regular bandana.
They can also use dark eye masks made out of fabric or crocheted on one side and fabric on the other so it’s soft against the eyes.
They do not need blankets.

YWCA of Salt Lake. Here is a donations list in PDF format. It’s quite extensive, but there are a few handmade items, including winter hats, gloves, and scarves for children, new stuffed animals, and pajamas.
Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC)

Homemade items requested for the PRC:
Baby Booties/Hats/Blankets: knitted, crocheted or sewn. (No specifications for colors or sizes.)
Scarves or hats to give to pregnant moms
Bookmarks (lace crochet or paper: they string beads on the end that hang out)
Thank-you cards (scrap bookers or card-makers might like this option)
Baby items (new bottles, toys (no stuffed animals), baby lotions and washes, diapers, wipes)
New and gently used baby furniture
Baby food and formula
BYU College of Nursing. They are in need of Newborn Kits. Items to be donated to the College of nursing should go to:

Nightgown—which we include if we have them, but if not, the onesie is sufficient
